About the Accommodation

The apartment is located on the second floor of our romantic villa, constructed in 1937 with an architectural design. It has undergone renovations to provide ample space and practicality while maintaining a stylish atmosphere. The villa is encompassed by a charming private garden spanning 4000 m2, enclosed by a fence. Within the garden, you will discover a natural swimming pond, teak furniture, an abundance of flowers and plants, and a wooded setting.

The private apartment is situated on the second floor of our villa and has:

• a room with a double bed, sofa, dining table. The floor surface is 43 m2 with a pitched roof.

• a 6 m2 kitchen.

• a 5m2 bathroom with sink, shower and toilet.

• a second room with a double bed, sofa and a desk (the second room has an additional fee). The floor surface is 30 m2 with a pitched roof.

Via a shared entrance, you go to the second floor. You have to walk two stairs.

Neighborhood

The village of Bilthoven (founded in 1113, Cornelius Vanderbilt's great-grandfather was a farmer here) is a tree-lined town of 22,000 inhabitants in the province of Utrecht.

A few minutes from our house, you will find opportunities for shopping (all daily needs and some attractive stores), hiking, biking, swimming, golfing, and dining. A train station is a 10-minute walk away.

Our house borders a nature reserve you can reach on foot in a few minutes. A bicycle path runs in front of our door.

The province of Utrecht is a beautiful place to spend your vacation because of its wealth of nature and culture and dozens of recreational opportunities. The Utrecht Hill Ridge (National Park) lends itself perfectly to a forest walk or bike ride through nature. Another recreational opportunity is the Vechtplassen area, surrounded by beautiful greenery and favoured by water sports enthusiasts. In addition to all this nature, you will find ancient cities like Utrecht and Amersfoort, full of hidden surprises. The province of Utrecht also has more castles and buitenplaatsen than any other province in the Netherlands. There are numerous forts, estates, castles and buitenplaatsen that can be visited. Near Bilthoven you can visit Kasteel Groeneveld in Baarn, Kasteel Zeist, Kasteel Huis Doorn, Kasteel De Haar in Haarzuilens, Kasteel Zuylen in Oud-Zuilen, Fort Vechten and Fort Rhijnauwen both in the city of Utrecht. The province of Utrecht also has more castles and country estates than any other province in the Netherlands. Numerous forts, estates, castles, and country estates can be visited. Near Bilthoven, you can visit Castle Groeneveld in Baarn, Castle Zeist, Castle Huis Doorn, Castle De Haar in Haarzuilens, Castle Zuylen in Oud-Zuilen, Fort Vechten, and Fort Rhijnauwen, both located in the city of Utrecht.

The medieval city of Utrecht (one of the four largest cities in the Netherlands): 10 minutes by car/25 minutes by bike/7 minutes by train. It offers cultural and historical attractions such as the Dom Tower, various museums, KidZcity (an indoor play paradise for children), shopping, canal cruises, canoeing in the city canals, pubs, restaurants, theatres, movies, and more.

Zeist: 10 minutes by car/25 minutes by bike. It offers attractions such as Slot Zeist, shopping, movies, theatre, and indoor and outdoor swimming pools.

Amersfoort: 20 minutes by car/10 minutes by train. It offers cultural and historical attractions, shopping, nature, and Dierenpark Amersfoort (a zoo).

Amsterdam: 50 minutes by car. The most colourful city in the Netherlands. It offers attractions such as the Hermitage, Madame Tussauds, Artis Zoo, Anne Frank House, Royal Palace, Van Gogh Museum, Rembrandt Museum, Opera, the world-famous Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, Albert Cuyp Market, canal cruises, and much more.

The Hague: 55 minutes by car. The Hague and its surroundings offer our seat of government, theatres, the North Sea coast with sandy beaches, a casino, Madurodam (miniature park), Duinrell (amusement park), Sealife, and more.

Waalwijk: 1 hour by car. It is home to the Efteling, one of Europe's major theme parks. These are just a few examples, but there is much more to see in the Netherlands. Six of the eight UNESCO World Heritage sites in the Netherlands are within a 60-mile radius of our house.

It is also possible to visit our neighbouring countries, Germany (cities like Düsseldorf and Cologne) and Belgium (cities like Antwerp and Brussels). And by train, you can reach Paris in 3.5 hours.
